The Lexmark X6650 is an inexpensive all-in-one printer that can be connected to a wireless network which contains a card reader.
The X6650 does not take up a lot of room with or without the paper trays open. The colouring is black and silver and is not difficult to keep spic and span. 100 sheets of paper can be placed in the rear-loading tray and the output tray will take 25 sheets.
The built-in card reader on the X6650 is compatible with SD Memory Card, SDHC, Micro SD, MultiMedia Card (v4.1), MultiMediaCard Plus (v4.1), RS-MMC, Compact Flash Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro Duo, xD-Picture Card, xD-Picture Card (Type M) and xD-Picture Card (Type H). If you have the proper adaptor you can also use mini memory cards. The X6650 also has a PictBridge port.
The X6650 is easy to get ready and it does not take long to do so. The two cartridges go in the space under the scanner./copier and the power cord connects at the back left side. The software for the X6650 can be loaded onto your computer with ease.
Lexmark X6650 ink cartridges are available in two capacities. The 36 standard black will do an estimated 175 pages and the standard 37 150 pages. You will get better value for money with the 36XL which will do an estimated 475 pages and 37XL, 500 pages. Also available for the X6650 is a photo cartridge (no. 31) which will let you print higher quality photos.
The X6650 is simple to use and has clearly laid out buttons for the various functions.
Using normal print quality mode on plain paper the X6650 printed a page of standard text with a colour logo in 22 seconds. The quality of text printed was good and colour graphics were lively although banding could be seen in darker printed areas.
The X6650 printed reasonably vibrant, detailed photos on a variety of papers although the quality was not as good as you would get from a dedicated photo printer.
The X6650 disappointed as a copier with washed out text and heavily banded sections of colouring.
Overall, the Lexmarkk X6650 is a reasonably low-priced and full-featured machine. It isn't bad for the money but if you are prepared to pay a little more you will definitely get something significantly better.
