The Oki C110 is really a straightforward, economical colour laser printer.

For people looking for fast clean text, the straightforward mono laser has had lots to present recently. But let's say, even though the majority of your requirements may centre round words, every now and then you are feeling the need to successfully print completely in colour? Colour lasers are likely to be somewhat costly, while purchasing an inkjet in addition to a mono laser could certainly need a fairly large desk.

Oki is not a business well-known for its bargain basement pricing strategy, however here, it produced a very cheap laser in the Oki C110 which concentrates on strong text abilities, but can likewise run off several colour prints any time needed.

A clear euphemism for the Oki C110, pertaining to it as a user friendly no-frills printer that is.With todays varying and rather current printers, its old fashioned, outdated and rough finishing is nothing comparable to the sleek curves and smooth lines of the current printers in the market. At first, we were confident that the Oki C110's output tray was possibly upside down or perhaps back to front, while the input tray seems only half-finished. However, they have done a really great job.

The input tray of the Oki C110 can easily take as much as two hundred sheets, which isn't bad for a low priced laser - and puts a lot of inkjets to disgrace. However, this printer has an annoying habit of not always propelling the printed sheets into the output tray.

Paper Jams have never been an issue, despite some clear reservations. More of a problem has been the Oki C110's inclination to put Letter as the default paper size - if this had not been checked out and adjusted, A4 print jobs appeared to be carrying on initially, only for the printer to start flailing following the second sheet.

After we were alert to this, the Oki C110 carried out its duties reliably - though it's not the most quiet of printers, it produces a vaguely irritating siren effect during operation.

OKI C110 printer toner cartridges are available in one capacity, 2,500 pages for the black cartridge and two capacities 1,500 and high yield 2,500 pages for each of the three colours.

This Oki C110 model only comes with a USB 2., even though an enhanced model, the Oki C130n, priced at around £60 more, features Ethernet support, duplex features (for automatically printing to both sides of the paper), and the choice of changing the paper input from 200 to 700 sheets.

Oki has invested a lot of time making sure the Oki C110's text features are up to scratch. The text is not as dark compared with one or two lasers, but neither is it in any way faint, whilst the characters are well defined. The Oki C110 churns out pages at a very creditable 15.8 pages per minute on top resolution. This won't make it very quick for a laser, however it's certainly not the slowest we have seen, and only a few, if any, inkjets could even get near to this kind of speed with their high-quality mode.

If you're in need of a text printer, then the Oki C110 is definitely a bang for your buck. It's not so remarkable as a colour model, however the palette appeared fairly realistic - if only a touch light in a few places - this would compare well with a large number of printers. At 2.5 pages per minute, it's really sluggish for a laser, yet again only a few inkjets could match such a results in their highest quality setting.

Running costs of the Oki C110 aren't amazingly low, but at 2-2.5p per page of mono (close to 1p more for colour) nonetheless makes this a relatively inexpensive printer to operate - particularly compared to the typical inkjet.
